Littlebreeze
Littlebreeze is a town-sized mouse settlement of 300-500 mice located in the center of Thawhallow. This settlement grows two primary crops, barley and potato, and is known for their ale and bakeries. Littlebreeze is generally isolated from the rest of Thawhallow. Most of the residents are adventure and travel averse. However, they are a very welcoming community and are eager to be hospitable to strangers or those in need. The occassional travelling merchant or vagaband does stop by on occassion.
Littlebreeze is anarcho-communist, and everyone contributes what they can to the community while having all of their needs med. There is no permanent leadership, but there is a governing council that members will fill roles on for temporary terms.
Most homes do not feature full kitchens, as Littlebreeze has communal kitchens. Food preparation and eating meals is a shared, community event, and everyone works to ensure nobody goes hungry.
The potato harvest requires many mice and equipment, as extracting large potatoes is effectively a mining operation.
Recent Events
- The summer brought a fierce drought putting a lot of stress on the barley and potato crops, as well as limiting the availability of forage such as berries. Compounding the issue, an early and unexpected frost occurred right before harvest.
- 60% of the expected crops failed.
- More than half the population of Littlebreeze is expected to starve to death if the town is unable to acquire enough supplies before the heavy snowfalls of winter arrive.
Points of Interest
Butter Churn Plaza
An old butter churn sits in the center of Littlebreeze with its deeply aged, grey wood with dark, corroded metal bands. A flag flies from the top bearing the town’s crest ( #todo what does this look like?). Notices, flyers and posters are tacked to the northern and southern sides of the structure. A small stage, fashioned of old food tins, faces an open plaza on the eastern side. The stage is used for proclamations, debates and performances of all kinds throughout the year. A community mural is painted on the western side by local artists, and is regularly updated during the changing of seasons or for holiday events.
Burnt Library
The charred remains of a library can be found in Littlebreeze, which burned to the ground during a sweltering heatwave late last summer. Most of the town’s book collection was lost in the fire, along with the bulk of the town’s recorded history. The library was especially important to [[Violet Black]] and her family, who were especially devastated by the loss. Violet’s family has been working to raise up support to rebuild the library, but are facing disinterest as the rising panic around crop failure and food shortages has the populace’s attention focused elsewhere.
Blaphemouse Burch
Blackrose Cheddarfield is the high priestess of the the local burch (bat church) named Blasphemouse Burch. She’s lead the congregation for longer than most of it’s current members have been alive. She’s wise, kind, and gave Lavender hope when it thought there was none. This particular burch worships the vampire bat.
Lavender Winter loves the sick-as-hell bat statue in burch (bat church). It’s carved out of wood and it’s real sharp and pointy, and stained with plant dyes to get the colors just right.

Holidays and Events
- Harvest festival. Everyone gathers around the big baked potato that took the whole town to excavate and prepare for a big feast and fair.
- Lavendar’s favorite holiday is The Great Darkness, the longest night of the year. Everybody gets a big bowl of Moon Soup, which is like a cheesy soup with big round balls of potato in it. The local tavern sometimes serves moon soup but it’s not as good as the one Berry Blossom makes for the great darkness celebration.
